OUR PROGRAMS
Using a holistic approach towards the personal development of the Black community in Canada

Summit
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism will host three Summits per year on topics related to combatting systemic racism and dismantling barriers for Black Canadians in the workplace. To date The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism has organized and delivered two Summits. Both were held online via video-conferencing due to health orders in place related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Future Summits may take place either in person, at an event space in Toronto, Ontario, online via video-conferencing, or by some combination of both.

Academic and Career Counselling and Mentorship to Black Canadians
The Mentorship Program is being delivered annually to BIPOC Canadians enrolled at, or recently graduated from, Canadian post-secondary institutions. The Mentorship Program is approximately four months in duration and has two primary components:

Education Events
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism anticipates hosting Education Events ten times a year. Depending on the timing of the first Education Event, and if any health orders are in place related to the Covid-19 pandemic at that time, the Education Events may take place either in person, at an event space in Toronto, Ontario, online via video-conferencing, or by a combination of both. In the future, resources permitting, we are also planning to host Education Events in other major cities in Canada.

Unconscious Bias Training
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism advances education by delivering unconscious bias training to organizations to enable leaders, managers, and employees of participating organizations to recognize, acknowledge and minimize any potential blind spots they may have to systemic racism. Currently, due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Training is being delivered virtually via videoconferencing, in the future the Training will be delivered both remotely and at the physical offices of the requesting organizations.

Parent/Student Step up Program
To combat the underrepresentation of racialized Canadians in post-secondary education, the Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism will deliver a tutoring program focused on improving literacy skills to children in kindergarten to grade 8 who identify as part of an underrepresented community, with a particular focus on low-income Black Canadians.

Protecting and Preserving Significant Heritage Sites and Properties
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism value the importance of increasing public knowledge about Canadian and Black heritage, and believe that efforts to preserve, rehabilitate, protect and restore significant heritage sites and properties in Canada will deliver significant benefits to the public and the immediate surrounding community.

Charitable Donations
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism may provide grants to post-secondary institutions that are charitable organizations as a means to establish or fund a chair, a professorship, or scholarships dedicated to the study of systemic racism affecting Black Canadians. Establishing or funding a chair, a professorship, or scholarships dedicated to the study of human rights is recognized in CG-001, Upholding human rights and charitable registration as activities that further the charitable purpose of upholding human rights.

Developing and Distributing Public Educational Resources to Combat Systemic Racism
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism is promoting and upholding human rights by developing and publicly disseminating education materials on combatting and preventing systemic racism in the Canadian education system. This material will focus on three issues pivotal to developing an inclusive and equitable education system:

Providing Scholarships and Bursaries
The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism intends to offer scholarships, bursaries and other forms of financial assistance (collectively, “Scholarships”) directly to advance education, particularly to advance post-secondary education in the study of law, sociology, political science, economics or other fields relevant to the promotion and protection of human rights and to combat and prevent systemic racism affecting Black Canadians.

Conducting, Commissioning And Publicly Disseminating Research, Recommendations, And White Papers Related To The Causes, Manifestations, And Solutions To Systemic Racism Affecting Black Canadians
We as the Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism are planning to conduct and/or commission research into issues related to Canadian human rights, systemic racism affecting Black Canadians and other ancillary subjects. The existing body of research in this area is scarce and underdeveloped. Accordingly, our research activities will not only add value but also greatly augment and enrich the existing collection of scholarly data available.
