Protecting and Preserving Significant Heritage Sites and Properties

The Canadian Council of Business Leaders Against Anti-Black Systemic Racism value the importance of increasing public knowledge about Canadian and Black heritage, and believe that efforts to preserve, rehabilitate, protect and restore significant heritage sites and properties in Canada will deliver significant benefits to the public and the immediate surrounding community.
We anticipate acquiring certain sites and properties in Canada of significance to the heritage and history of Black Canadians (each, a “Site”). Following acquisition of a Site, we are intending to commission a feasibility study outlining possible restoration and rehabilitation options that will safeguard all character-defining elements and to extend the Site’s physical life. Ultimately, all restoration and rehabilitation work will be conducted by qualified builders that are under contract to us. We will ensure that any work carried out on a Site complies with applicable building codes and legislation. These Sites will be made accessible to the public for the education and enjoyment of future generations.
